ABOUT THE AUTHOR

 

Dr. David Keys received a Ph.D. in Physics from Washington University in St. Louis, MO in 1984 and a Masters in Theology from Franciscan University in Steubenville, Ohio in 2013. For 38 years he worked in the field of Medical Physics, being involved in the physics of radiation treatment of cancer patients and in the physics of diagnostic imaging of patients and was named a Fellow by the American College of Radiology, the American Association of Physicists in Medicine, and the American College of Medical Physics. Dr. Keys retired from Medical Physics in 2012, and has since then, published a book—Exploring the Belief in the Real Presence, has been on EWTN, Immaculate Heart Radio, and Covenant radio networks and has delivered numerous talks on a variety of topics, including Faith and Science, the Shroud of Turin, and the Tilma of St. Juan Diego. In June, 2021, Dr. Keys was named Catholic Man of the Year in the St Louis Archdiocese by Lu Cortese’s St Joe Radio/SJENT.

The Institute for Theological Encounter with Science and Technology (ITEST) is an association of theologians, scientists and others committed to a world view in which faith and science collaborate in exploring the truth. ITEST explores truth theologically in the wisdom traditions of the human community and in the data studied in the sciences in pursuit of its mission, which is to further advance the Kingdom of God by demonstrating that faith and science are complementary paths to the one Truth.

The Institute for Theological Encounter with Science and Technology (ITEST) began in 1966 when two scientists, Father Robert Brungs, SJ (a physicist) and Dr. John Matschiner (a biochemist), saw the need to keep Christian churches abreast of advances in science and technology. Recognizing that faith-science issues were both complex and widespread, they incorporated ITEST in 1968.

Most of the books presented here were developed by Father Robert A. Brungs, SJ, Jesuit, Cincinnati native and co-founder and Director of the Institute for Theological Encounter with Science and Technology, who led and guided ITEST for almost four decades until his death on May 8, 2006. He was ably assisted by Sr. Marianne Postiglione, R.S.M., in this work.
